Job Description

Our client has a fantastic opportunity based in their Maidstone office. Therefore, we are looking to support them with their recruitment.

We are looking for a junior design engineer to join their current team. You will be working in a varied role within the design department of on AutoCAD for residential and commercial fire sprinkler systems and working on the LPCB supervision process to ensure that all jobs are logged correctly.

We have a large number of contracts to manage which need to be actioned in a timely manner.

Fire Protection is a fast-growing industry, our client has experienced growth in the last few years and this is expected to continue. The job role will be varied and will develop over time.

Key Accountabilities (major end results the job is expected to achieve):

  • Designing residential and commercial automatic fire sprinkler systems.
  • Projects will be a mix of commercial and residential schemes including new and retrofits.
  • Calculating pre-calculated and FHC calculations on projects
  • Attending site meetings, carrying out site surveys and site inspections
  • Working on the LPCB Supervision process, including uploading and answering comments
  • Liaise closely with the sales, design and projects teams. Job Context / Key Challenges:
  • Able to work to tight deadlines to ensure all quotations are sent to the Client on time. To be organised to ensure all outstanding quotations are regularly reviewed in the view of securing the order. To build strong customer relations.
  • Must be able to drive with a full valid UK licence, to attend site meetings when necessary.

Person Profile (Qualifications, Knowledge, Skill and Experience):

  • Experience of 2D AutoCAD
  • Strong IT skills including MS Outlook, Word and Excel.
  • Excellent communication and organisation skills
  • Good attention to detail
  • Professional, customer-focussed manner, helpful and supportive to colleagues
  • Experience of Revit or the LPCB would be advantageous
  • Experience within Construction would be preferred
  • Working towards the LPCB Competence Exams.

Full time hours: 40 per week

Job Types: Full-time

Salary: £20,000.00-£30,000.00 per year, the higher salary being offered to someone from the Sprinkler industry or with more experience in something very similar.
